The company is formed by Harold Niericker in 2001. Before setting up this company, Harold worked in the following places:

2000-2002 Worked at Shell Internet Services Limited in London as Technical Director for the Global Portal Solutions Team. Harold was a network architecture consultant providing expert assistance including:
  • Technical architecture solutions within Shell projects – for example, network topology, portal platforms, database and midware oriented and portal content related solutions.
  • Project management duties for Shell Internet Works – for example, planning, monitoring and implementing projects.
  • Technical consultancy regarding business creation opportunities and potential projects – including advise, translating technologies into business opportunities, recommending prudent technical courses of action with regard to scalability and costs.
1999-2000 Worked at World Online International bv as the senior product development manager. Harold was also requested by the new World Online management to join the new company in Milan, during and after the merger with Tiscali as Product Development Director Tiscali International.
1996-1997 Worked at World Online International bv as the head of the Product Marketing department.
1996-1997 Worked at World Online bv as the Product Marketing Manager.
1994-1995 Worked at World Online bv in the Product marketing department, involved with the start-up of the company. Mainly technical focus, but also marketing, (pre- & after-) sales and sales support tasks.
1994 World Online bv.i.o. At this time, the company World Online didn't exist yet. The thesis Harold wrote for the university was called "How to set-up an online Internet provider" with the subtitle "World Online". This thesis was part of the initial roll-out (lead by Ms.Nina Brink) of an Internet company, later known as World Online.

During his 8 year study, the 3rd year Harold worked at three different companies: Philips Semiconductors in Zwolle, the Netherlands, technical design of new component manufacturing devices; IJsselmij, a big electrical power company, designing and implementing glass fiber connections through high voltage power cables; PTT Telecommunication, now known as KPN, testing of new PABX and designing user-, operation- and installation procedures and manuals. The 8th year Harold started working at A-Line, the hard- and software distribution company of Nina Brink. During that year, the basic plans for World Online where formed.
